SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is designed to verify whether an e-mail message is sent by a licensed server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will stop the faking of emails made with the domain. In simple words: enabling this function for a domain name generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through verifies whether it originates from an approved server. When it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, but when it doesn't come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address and make it look as if you're e-mailing spam messages. This approach is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our modern Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and enter the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be authorized to send email messages from your emails. As an additional option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the emails for it, not a third-party provider. This solution offers you the best standard of security, but it's not applicable if only your site is on our servers while the emails for the domain name are taken care of somewhere else. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as a part of the standard set of services that you'll receive with this type of website hosting. Enabling the protection involves just a couple of easy steps in the Hepsia Control Panel, so that even if you've never used this type of function before, you won't have any type of issues. Using a really user-friendly interface, you'll simply need to enter the details of the mail server that will be authorized to send out messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the newly made record propagates, no one will be able to counterfeit any email address for that particular domain and send emails from a server different from the one you have entered. This doesn't specifically have to be our mail server, but if we take care of your e-mails, you will be able to enable an additional level of protection by choosing an option that e-mail messages can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only if the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support staff will be able to help you 24/7 in case you have any kind of questions regarding this service.
